Seminar on “Domestic Violence: Silence is Not an Option, Action is Needed!”

On September 23, 2025, the Department of Theory and History of State and Law, Constitutional and Administrative Law within the framework of SDG (17) organized a seminar on “Domestic Violence: Silence is Not an Option, Action is Needed!” for students of the Faculty of Law at al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The event was attended by representatives of the Almaty City Police Department, Alatau District Police Department, the Crisis center “Zhan-Saya,” and the Family Support Center. During the seminar, issues of domestic violence prevention, mechanisms for assisting victims, as well as legal and social protection measures were discussed.
The seminar allowed students to gain practical knowledge, share experiences, and increase awareness of modern approaches to combating domestic violence.
Conclusions of the event:
- Domestic violence requires active response and societal involvement;
- Law students acquired knowledge of legal mechanisms for protecting victims;
- Cooperation between law enforcement agencies, social services, and educational institutions is essential for effective violence prevention;
- Awareness and timely action are key factors in preventing domestic violence.
The organizers emphasize that an active civic stance and professional training of future lawyers play a crucial role in creating a safe society.
