The international scientific conference “The Kazakh Linguistic Landscape: Internal Perspectives and Scholarly Insights”

From September 23 to October 3, 2025, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Ayauzhan Kairatkyzy Tausogarova and Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Saule Bekmukhamedkyzy Bektemirova took part in the international scientific conference “The Kazakh Linguistic Landscape: Internal Perspectives and Scholarly Insights”, held at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice during their official visit to Italy.

The opening ceremony of the conference began with welcoming remarks by Professor Elisabetta Ragagnin, from the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca’ Foscari University. In her address, she emphasized the importance of academic collaboration between Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and Ca’ Foscari University, highlighting future plans for cooperation in the fields of education, research, and academic exchange.

During the conference, the development trends and current issues of linguistics in Kazakhstan’s academic landscape were presented to the international audience. Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Ayauzhan Kairatkyzy Tausogarova delivered a presentation on “Manifestations of Linguistic Rights Violations in Kazakhstan’s Mass Media”, while Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor Saule Bekmukhamedkyzy Bektemirova presented a paper titled “Contemporary Issues in Turkology Studies in Kazakhstan.”

In addition, Raima Aueskhan, a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca’ Foscari University and a graduate of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, presented her report “The Linguistic Situation in Contemporary Kazakhstan”, which sparked an active discussion among the participants.

We express our sincere gratitude to Professor Elisabetta Ragagnin and to our university alumna, PhD Dr. Raima Aueskhan, for organizing this event and for fostering future collaboration in the fields of linguistics and Turkology.

In conclusion, Professor Elisabetta Ragagnin remarked:

“You are the first colleagues from the Faculty of Philology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University to establish academic ties with us. Our cooperation will now continue with renewed momentum.”

These words inspired new scientific plans and joint research initiatives.
