Department of Russian Philology and World Literature of the Philological Faculty of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi

23-24 October 2025 holds the International Scientific and Practical Conference:

"Modern Kazakhstani Prose: Leading Trends, New Names, Prospects for Study"

 

The aim of the conference is to coordinate joint efforts in the field of studying new works of writers of Kazakhstan during the Independence era in the historical-cultural space. The conference is held within the framework of the implementation of the grant project of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan AP19679652 “Russian prose of Kazakhstan of modern times: leading trends, genre, plot, hero”

                                     

Thematic areas of the conference

1. Leading trends in contemporary Kazakhstani prose: themes and motifs, genre diversity, narrative strategies.

 2. Young authors and new names: literary debuts and individual stylistic features.

3. Gender aspects of modern Kazakhstani prose: women's writing and gender representation.

4. Regional features and local narratives in modern prose.

5. Digital literature and new forms of storytelling: blogs, platform texts, multimedia formats.

6. Modern Kazakhstani prose in school and university programs: teaching methods and the problem of the canon.

 

The conference will be held in a mixed format (in person and online).

Working languages: Russian, Kazakh, English.

Date: October 23-24, 2025

Venue: Almaty, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of Philology, 310

Applications will be accepted until September 25, 2025.
