Opening of the Named Lecture Hall of Professor Kalausha Adilkhanovich Begaliyev

A solemn opening ceremony of the named lecture hall of Professor Kalausha Adilkhanovich Begaliyev took place at the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminology of the Faculty of Law, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Professor Begaliyev was an eminent Soviet and Kazakhstani lawyer and statesman, Deputy Prosecutor of the Kazakh SSR (1965–1981), State Counselor of Justice, 3rd class (Major General of Justice), Doctor of Law, Professor, and a distinguished expert in criminal procedure and prosecutorial supervision.

The opening of the hall is a tribute to the preservation of Professor Begaliyev’s scientific and professional legacy and his significant contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s legal system and the training of future legal professionals.

The hall’s interior reflects key stages of the professor’s life and scholarly career. The exhibition features his academic works, personal belongings, official uniform (Major General of Justice), and rare photographs depicting his years of service and teaching.

A special part of the complex includes a Gesell mirror room designed for observation and analysis of investigative procedures. This modern educational space enables students to develop practical skills in interrogation, forensic observation, and behavioral analysis.

The project was implemented with the support of the Department of Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, and Criminology (headed by Doctor of Law, Professor Rima Yerenatovna Zhansarayeva) and Professor Yernar Nurlanovich Begaliyev, Member of the Higher Judicial Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Law, who made a significant personal contribution to the creation and equipping of the lecture hall.

Distinguished guests attending the ceremony included:

• Erkin Ermanovich Duissenov – Deputy Chairman of the Board, First Vice-Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Doctor of Law, Professor;

• Igor Ivanovich Rogov – Honorary President of the Kazakhstan Criminological Association, Doctor of Law, Professor;

• Gulzhan Amanbaevna Karakulova – Honored Lawyer of the Republic of Kazakhstan, veteran of the Prosecutor’s Office, Senior Adviser of Justice, who delivered a speech titled “A Life Dedicated to Serving the People.”

The opening of Professor Kalausha Adilkhanovich Begaliyev’s lecture hall stands as a symbol of academic continuity, respect for distinguished scholars, and a reminder of the noble mission of the legal profession — serving law and society.
