Report on the International Scientific and Practical Roundtable: Legal Psychology

On November 4, 2025, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) hosted the International Scientific and Practical Roundtable on the theme: "Legal Psychology: Theory, Practice, and Prospects".

The event was dedicated to the scientific legacy of Professor D.D. Duysenbekov, an outstanding scholar who made a significant contribution to the development of legal psychology. The roundtable brought together academics and practitioners to discuss fundamental theoretical provisions and topical issues concerning the application of legal psychology in law enforcement and judicial practice.

A focal point of the discussion was the presentation by Temir A. Toktybekov, Candidate of Legal Sciences (Ph.D. in Law), Senior Lecturer at Al-Farabi KazNU, titled "Topical Issues of Forensic Psychology in the Republic of Kazakhstan."

The speaker focused on key challenges facing forensic psychology within Kazakhstan, including: the quality and methodology of conducting forensic psychological examinations. The psychological aspects of working with minors and victims during investigation and court proceedings. The assessment of witness testimony reliability, factoring in psychological influences.

Participants underscored the vital importance of integrating psychological knowledge into legal practice to enhance the effectiveness of the administration of justice. The roundtable affirmed the necessity of continuing the scientific research initiated by Professor D.D. Duysenbekov and served as a productive platform for experience exchange within the international academic community.
