KazNU student gained experience in the SCO Young Leaders Project

Saken Yermakhan, a 4th-year student at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, successfully completed the Youth Leadership Program of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States, held in Shanghai, China, from July 12 to August 9, 2025.

The program was organized by East China Normal University with the support of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission. Around 50 students from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Belarus took part in the project.

During the program, participants not only deepened their knowledge of the Chinese language but also attended a series of lectures covering key aspects of China’s modern development. The sessions addressed topics such as “Innovative growth and the impact of artificial intelligence on China’s economy,” “Green energy and environmental sustainability policy,” “Shanghai as a regional economic hub,” and “Modernization of China’s education and cultural strategies.”

In the final stage of the program, participants took part in the “Country Presentations” event, where they showcased their national culture. The Kazakh delegation actively promoted the country’s rich traditions and arts, presenting the beauty of Kazakh culture to an international audience. Under Saken’s leadership, the team delivered an engaging presentation in Chinese and English about Kazakhstan’s history, art, and national values, receiving warm applause from the audience.

At the end of the program, participants were awarded certificates recognizing their academic achievements and cultural engagement. Saken distinguished himself through excellent academic performance and active participation in cultural events, demonstrating that Kazakh students are knowledgeable, dynamic, and globally minded young leaders.
