The Opening Ceremony of the "Arabic Language Month in Kazakhstan" was held
Today, October 22, 2025, the opening ceremony of the large-scale international event "Arabic Language Month" was held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was organized by the King Salman Global Academy of the Arabic Language of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the support of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The goal of this event is to strengthen the status of the Arabic language, create conditions for its study and dissemination, and expand cooperation between two countries in scientific and educational centers.
The event, which is being held for the first time in Kazakhstan, was attended by the First Vice-Rector of KazNU named after Al-Farabi E. Duisenov and the Secretary General of the King Salman Global Academy of the Arabic Language, Abdullah Al-Washmi, representatives of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kazakhstan, faculty and scholars from higher education institutions and research centers in Kazakhstan where Arabic is taught, faculty deans, graduate students, and undergraduates attended the opening ceremony. During the opening ceremony, the Arabic Language Academy presented its programs and successful projects, and it was noted that this event aims to open up new opportunities for the widespread development of the Arabic language and culture in Kazakhstan. The winners of competitions held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Kazakh National University with the participation of students from higher education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the "Arabic Language Month" were announced. Young students participated in the "Arabic Calligraphy," "Expressive Reading of Arabic Poetry," and "Arabic Narrative" competitions. In addition, training sessions for faculty and students were organized as part of the event, incorporating the goals of SDG 4, "Quality Education." Following the opening ceremony, a scientific forum began, bringing together leading Kazakh and international Arab scholars. Participants discussed the history and prospects for the development of Arabic studies in Kazakhstan. It was noted that, in the future, joint cultural and educational ties between the two countries will be integrated into new projects under SDG 17, "Partnership for Sustainable Development."
