The Faculty of International Relations held a decade-long event to explore the implementation of the 17 SDGs through the eyes of a new generation of diplomats, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the UN and the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of International Relations

On October 21, 2025, from 12:00 to 13:30, the final event of the "Decade" was held at the UN Plaza (303 Baizakov Street, Almaty). The event was organized by the Academic regional resource center for information support about the UN at the Faculty of International Relations of al-Farabi KazNU.
The purpose of the event was to summarize the outcomes of the decade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of International Relations, as well as to enhance youth engagement with the UN and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Mr. Vlastimil Samek, Representative of the United Nations Department of Global Communications in Almaty, and Delovarova Leila Fedorovna, Coordinator of the Academic regional resource center for information support about the UN at the Faculty of International Relations of al-Farabi KazNU. They emphasized the importance of youth involvement in advancing UN principles and achieving the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Ex-coordinators of the Center - Alen Juanyshbekov, Aigerim Akshalova, and Aziza Dauletova - shared their experiences in youth-led projects aimed at promoting international cooperation.
A highlight of the event was the presentation "The Role of Youth in the Development of the UN and the Implementation of the 17 SDGs," delivered by three participants: Kurmangali Bakdaulet (Kazakh), Seisebayev Kamil (Russian), and Kapenova Dariya (English).
Following the presentation, a Q&A discussion took place, during which participants exchanged views on the importance of youth initiatives in achieving the SDGs.
Afterwards, the winners of the Drawing Contest and the most active participants of the decade were awarded prizes and certificates of appreciation.
The artistic part of the program featured musical performances by students - Beibarys Shagataev (vocals), Bagdat Anet, and Bekkul Arslan (guitar), who performed Weezer’s "Say It Ain’t So" and "Island In The Sun".
The event concluded with a flash mob titled " Бірлік болсын әлемде" ("Let there be unity in the world"), symbolizing the values of peace, unity, and solidarity.
As part of the «Decade», interactive events were held, including a Drawing contest on the SDG theme, a Cooking workshop with participants visions of the UN flag, and a Quiz called "What do you know about the UN?" These events helped to engage young people in the UN and SDG missions.
The event was held in a warm and inspiring atmosphere and became a fitting conclusion to the decade dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the UN and the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of International Relations. It ended with a group photo capturing the unity and enthusiasm of the youth supporting the UN mission.
