35 Years of the Declaration of State Sovereignty: Exhibition of Historical Documents Held at the Central State Archive

On October 20, 2025, on the occasion of Republic Day and the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty, an exhibition of valuable original archival documents was organized at the "Central State Archive" Republican State Institution of the Committee for Archives, Documentation and Book Affairs of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The aim of the exhibition was to present the historical stages of Kazakhstan's path to sovereignty through original documents. The exhibition featured original archival documents that testify to the issues of statehood of our country and the historical processes preceding independence. Among them, the original of the "Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic," adopted on October 25, 1990, which is of special historical importance, was presented to the public. The event was attended by representatives of the scientific community, archive specialists, as well as students of the Faculty of History of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Sabit Kamytbekuly Shildebay, Director of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, delivered an introductory speech and elaborated on the history of the formation of Kazakh statehood. Furthermore, he paid special attention to the adoption and significance of the "Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic." Following him, Marziya Ganikyzy Zhylysbaeva, Deputy Director of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Kazakhstan, spoke in detail about the history of the original Declaration's transfer to archival storage and the procedure for its preservation.

The presentation of the exhibition was conducted by archive employees K. Kabdush and R. Abildos, who provided comprehensive answers to the questions raised by the participants and offered information regarding the historical and documentary value of the presented documents.

At the conclusion of the event, the participants expressed their gratitude to the archive staff for the organized exhibition and noted the importance of holding meaningful meetings and thematic exhibitions in the future, which aligns with the principles of Partnership for the Goals (SDG No. 17).
