Combating climate change

21 october, 2025

On October 21, 2025, in Student Dormitory №17, an event on the topic: “SDG 13: Combating  climate change” was conducted by R.A. Torekhanova with the  third-year students of the 6B02304 “Translation Studies” major. The main purpose of the event was to explain to the students that climate change is not only an environmental issue but also a global problem that directly affects social, economic, and even human safety, as well as to foster a sense of responsibility toward environmental protection.

During the event, the students analyzed the causes of climate change — such as the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, the growth of industrial production, the reduction of forest areas, and excessive consumer culture. Furthermore, concrete examples were presented to demonstrate the impact of these processes on human health, agriculture, ecosystems, and global security.

National programs and international initiatives implemented by Kazakhstan in this field were also discussed. The students identified simple yet important actions that can be adopted in daily life, such as saving energy, sorting waste, conserving water, planting trees, and reducing overconsumption. It was also emphasized that reusing clothing and household items and delivering waste to specialized recycling points is one of the most accessible ways to protect the environment.

The students actively participated in the discussion and freely expressed their opinions. The session went beyond merely providing information and served as a strong motivation for the development of environmental culture and civic responsibility.
