General Overview of Legal Liability for Violations of Environmental Legislation

On October 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., an open class was held in Room 329 of the Faculty of Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University under the supervision of Senior Lecturer of the Department of Customs, Financial and Environmental Law, Karlygash Abdraimovna Bakhmanova, on the topic “General Characteristics of Legal Liability for Violation of Environmental Legislation.”
Students of the educational programs 6B04202 – Public Service, 6B04203 – Customs Affairs, and 6B04204 – Financial Law took part in the open class.
The purpose of the lesson was to explain the legal nature, types, and features of the application of legal liability for violations of environmental legislation, as well as to enhance students’ theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of environmental law.
The open class was aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – “Quality Education.” Within this framework, the lesson aimed to promote students’ legal awareness, develop their environmental culture, and strengthen their professional competencies.
The class was conducted in an interactive format. During the lecture, the instructor explained the legal features of environmental offenses, measures of administrative and criminal liability, and the role of the state in ensuring environmental safety.
Students were presented with specific examples of the practical application of environmental law norms, and a legal analysis was carried out based on the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The lesson included question-and-answer sessions, discussions, and practical exercises, which ensured the active participation of students.
