Using Renewable Energy Sources as a Path Toward a Sustainable Future
On November 10, 2025, second-year students majoring in Foreign Philology at the Faculty of Philology of Farabi Kazakh National University held an event within the framework of SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy.
As part of an environmental field trip, the students visited the Botanical Garden of Almaty, where they discussed the rational use of natural resources and the importance of renewable energy sources for preserving the environment.
During the event, participants emphasized the significance of transitioning to environmentally friendly energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro energy. Special attention was paid to the issue of excessive electricity consumption and the need to cultivate an energy-saving culture among young people. The students highlighted that responsible resource use today determines the quality of life for future generations.
During the excursion, the participants also exchanged ideas on how modern technologies can help reduce the carbon footprint. They shared examples of successful energy projects implemented in Kazakhstan and abroad. After the discussion, the students prepared short presentations on the potential for integrating alternative energy sources into the university infrastructure.
The event helped foster environmental awareness among students and strengthened their sense of personal responsibility for the rational use of energy. The participants concluded that even simple actions - turning off unnecessary lights, using energy-efficient bulbs, and reducing household energy consumption - can make a significant contribution to conserving the planet’s resources.
Farabi Kazakh National University actively supports initiatives aimed at promoting the ideas of sustainable development. The university provides opportunities for environmental education and encourages student involvement in projects that improve the ecological situation and promote responsible attitudes toward nature.
The event became an important contribution to the development of environmental cultureamong students and increased their awareness of the crucial role of renewable energy sources in shaping the planet’s sustainable future.
