K. M. Kozhabek, a lecturer in department customs, financial, and environmental law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, held an open lesson with students of the Faculty of Law on the rational use of water resources in the framework of SDG 14 on the Yesentai River.
The ocean determines the functioning of global systems that make the Earth habitable for humanity. Our rainwater and drinking water, our weather, climate, coastlines, most of our food, and even the oxygen in the air we breathe are all ultimately provided and regulated by the sea. The sustainable use of this critical global resource is essential for a sustainable future. However, coastal waters are currently deteriorating due to pollution, and ocean acidification is negatively impacting ecosystem functioning and biodiversity.
