Visiting the play “My Beloved Angel”
At the end of October, Associate Professor N.S. Sanyarova of the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, together with the students of groups YI-213 and TE-143 of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, saw “My Beloved Angel” play directed by Alimbek Orazbekov. The production is based on the famous play Pygmalion by the English playwright Bernard Shaw. The play was performed at the popular “Concordia” students’ theater known for its democratic atmosphere, affordable prices, and consistently full halls filled with a young audience.
The main idea of the play is that any person, even from a humble background, can change, grow spiritually, and become an educated, cultured individual through perseverance and the pursuit of knowledge. This is clearly reflected in the fate of the main character, Eliza, an illiterate flower girl who, through education, transforms into a refined and educated lady.
The production was notable for its liveliness, emotional depth, and subtle sense of humor. The comedic scenes were skillfully performed by the actors, eliciting genuine reactions from the audience.
