Center for Physical and Chemical Methods of Research and Analysis
The Center for Physical and Chemical Methods of Research and Analysis (CPhChMA) is the leading multidisciplinary research organization of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In 2020, the CPhChMA was transformed into the SRI CPhChMA on the basis of the order of the Rector of Al-Farabi KazNU No. 300 dated September 09, 2020, as a structural unit of the Department of Science and Innovation of Al-Farabi KazNU.

The mission of the CPhChMA is to coordinate scientific research in the field of analytical chemistry, electrochemistry, catalysis, nanotechnology, physical chemistry, chemical technology and ecology, to form a modern, competitive creative specialist based on the integration of science, education and business.
Activities - ensuring continuity and coordination of fundamental, applied and exploratory scientific research carried out in the most important areas of natural, technical, agricultural sciences, expert scientific support for the activities of state authorities and scientific and methodological guidance of scientific and scientific and technical activities of teaching staff and students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi KazNU.

The main indicators in the work of laboratories are the number of implemented research and contractual works, received international grants and grants of the Republic of Kazakhstan; the amount of funds raised for research and contractual work, the number of publications in high-ranking foreign and Russian scientific journals; the number of employees who have completed internships at leading Russian and foreign universities and research centers; the number of students involved in the research process. According to these indicators, the CPhChMA has been among the leaders among similar departments of Al-Farabi KazNU for several years.
TEAM
The basis and key to the success of the CPhChMA is a team of qualified scientific personnel capable of solving a wide range of research and production problems in the chemical, pharmaceutical, chemical-technological, biological-technological, hydrometallurgical and oil and gas sectors of the RK.
Today, over 150 people work at the CFMA (including 23 Doctors of Science and more than 30 PhD and Candidates of Science). The high professional level of the CPhChMA employees has been repeatedly confirmed by the highest awards of the Republic of Kazakhstan, victories in various competitions, including international ones.
AWARDS
By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 16, 2005 on behalf of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. Nazarbayev, the employees of the Center – Nauryzbaev M.K., Ishkenov E.R., Svetov V.A. were awarded the State Prizes of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of science, technology and education.
State scientific scholarships of the Republic of Kazakhstan for scientists who have made an outstanding contribution to the development of science and technology were awarded to professors Abilov Zh.A., Akhmedova Sh.S., Burasheva G.Sh., Kuanysheva G.S., Muzychkina R.A., Musabekov K.B., Nauryzbaev M.K., Nurakhmetov N.N., Ospanov H.K., Tazhibaeva S.M.
The titles “Honored Worker of Science of Kazakhstan” were awarded to Zebreva A.I., Nurakhmetov N.N., Musabekov K.B.
The prospects for the development of the Center are provided by young personnel. Over the years, 9 young researchers were awarded the title of Laureates of the State Prize named after D. A. Kunaev for the best scientific work in the field of science and technology: in 2005 – Kurbanova A., Kenesov B., Tasibekov H., in 2006 – Baizhumanova A., Nechipurenko S., Sokolov A., in 2008 – Kudreeva L., Kuvancheva A., Tulegenov A.
State scientific scholarships for talented young scientists were awarded to 10 employees of the Center.

THE TRAINING CENTER
The activities of the training center are primarily aimed at conducting training activities to improve the skills of narrow profile specialists.
At various times, the following courses and seminars were organized for employees of commercial laboratories: “Fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry”, “Working with the Mass Spectrometric Detector of an Agilent Gas Chromatograph”, “Environmental Problems of Space Activities”, “Electrochemical Methods of Analysis”, etc.
In addition, the CPhChMA carries out close cooperation with the educational process of the Faculty of Chemistry of Al-Farabi KazNU. Students complete their graduation theses, master's theses, and also undergo industrial practice on the basis of the CPhChMA laboratories.

The CPhChMA specializes in the field of chemical analysis of substances and materials, chemical control of environmental objects, industrial products, mineral and vegetable raw materials, high purity metals. A distinctive feature of the CPhChMA is the organic combination of fundamental and applied science, which ensures the creation and development of promising scientific areas and the practical implementation of research developments.
The main tasks of the Center are the priority development of fundamental and applied research; development of new technologies and materials; development of scientific schools and leading scientific teams; expansion of international cooperation with educational institutions and organizations of various countries.
The Center carries out fundamental and applied research in the field of ecology, electrochemistry, petrochemistry, analytical, radiation chemistry, development of composite materials, etc.
Availability of highly qualified specialists (doctors, candidates of sciences, PhD) and the most modern equipment allows the CPhChMA to solve tasks in accordance with the latest achievements of science and technology.
The Center for Physical and Chemical Methods of Research and Analysis associates the prospects for its activities with the advanced development of research and development in the field of creating nanomaterials, functional materials that ensure competitiveness in the high-tech market.
The goal of the CPhChMA is to develop science by planning and carrying out scientific research of global and national importance, creating a material, technical, economic, informational and social base for research institutes and related small innovative enterprises, as well as developing entrepreneurship in the scientific and technical field through the production development of scientific knowledge and science-intensive technologies, implementation of the results of research and development in the relevant industries and in the educational process of educational institutions.
The main tasks of the CPhChMA:
- Participation in competitions of the SC MSHE of the RK in priority areas for grants and targeted programs and carrying out research in accordance with the priority areas of industrial and innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
- Activation of activities to attract funds from budgets of all levels, funds, funds from enterprises and private investors for the development of scientific research.
- Participation in competitions held by foreign foundations for research, obtaining grants, joint work with scientists from other countries.
- Integration of the educational process of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and scientific research, the use of research results in educational programs and their introduction into the educational process.
- Commercialization of technologies and support for the entrepreneurship of scientists.
