Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology
Chair of general and inorganic chemistry
The department of general and inorganic chemistry is the host department for students who entered the faculty of chemistry and Chemical Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and entered the world of Chemical Science for the first time. In addition, teachers of the Department teach chemistry, general chemistry, inorganic chemistry and several basic disciplines to students of the faculties of biology and biotechnology, geography and nature management, medicine and healthcare, mechanics and mathematics, physics and technology.

History of the department
In 1971, the Department of General and Inorganic Chemistry, divided intothe department of general chemistry (H. D. Muldagaliev, W. F. Omarova, N.E. Snegireva, S. T. Omar, V.P. Kruchenko, I. Tsygankov and etc.) and the Department of Inorganic Chemistry.
From the earliest days of the Department of Education research conducted in three main areas: physical chemistry of the continental salt formation, chemical and physico-chemical basis of technology for products with Fertilizer properties, physico-chemical analysis of the transformation of natural salts, acids and bases. With the advent of the chair of the graduate of Moscow State University Professor M. Muratbekov began research in the field of radiation chemistry of water and aqueous solutions. From 1985 to 1994, the department was headed by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Professor, Academician, laureate of State Prize for Science, Technology and Education 2001 N. Nurakhmetov. Professor N.N. Nurahmetov together with employees of the department were laid the theoretical and practical foundations of a new class of chemical salts to complex organic cations, summarized what he called amid acids.
From 1994 to 1997. Department was headed by Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Prof. R. Sh. Erkasov. During this period, were developed physical-chemical fundamentals of the triple, four coordination compounds in the quaternary system, as well as the composition and structure of these complex compounds.
Graduates of the department working in various fields of science, education and production in Kazakhstan, CIS and far abroad. So, Arynov H.T. - Director of ICS. A.B.Bekturov RK, professor Dzhusipbekov U.ZH. - Deputy Director of ICS. A.B.Bekturov; Prof. Erkasov R.Sh. - Head. Department of Chemistry, University of Pavlodar. S. Toryaygyrova; Professor A.K. Tashenov - Head. Department of Chemistry of the Eurasian University, Prof. Makasheva G.R. - Director of raising civil servants of the State Administration Academy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Astana), Serazitdinov A.D. - a successful entrepreneur.
