A seminar on intercultural translation between Kazakh and Chinese linguistic cultures was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies.
On November 13, 2025, a scientific seminar on the topic "Artistic and thematic features of the literature of the search for roots" was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi. The event was organized by Haliolla Gulzhanar, 2nd year PhD student in the specialty 8D02301 "Translation Studies"
The seminar brought together teachers, doctoral and master's students, as well as everyone interested in intercultural communication. During the event, key aspects of translating culturally specific elements, linguistic and semantic nuances of adapting texts, as well as methods of preserving national identity when translating Chinese literature and philosophical texts were considered.
Doctoral student Kaliolla Gulzhanar presented the results of her scientific research, focusing on modern trends in the field of cultural translation. She analyzed examples of concepts that are difficult to translate, revealed methods of their adaptation in the context of the Kazakh and Chinese languages, and proposed effective strategies for overcoming translation difficulties. Following the seminar, it was decided to continue research in this area and organize a series of round tables devoted to the issues of translating cultural concepts.
