On November 17, 2025, the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an academic seminar titled “Artistic and Thematic Features of Root-Seeking Literature.” The event was organized by Fariza Sarsembayeva, a second-year doctoral student of the educational program 8D02305 “Foreign Philology.”

The seminar focused on one of the significant directions in Chinese literature — the “root-seeking” literary movement. This theme is particularly important for young researchers studying contemporary Chinese literature. Chinese literature of the 1980s marked the emergence of new trends, artistic movements, and styles, greatly expanding the creative landscape. Works of that period attracted readers with their originality and depth. Today, Chinese literature continues to address modern social issues and maintains its influence on global literary discourse.

During the seminar, participants emphasized that the presented analyses and discussions hold substantial theoretical and practical value. The event served as an important platform for exchanging ideas, engaging in discussion, and generating new scholarly insights, demonstrating its relevance for all attendees.
