21 november, 2025

On 21 November 2025, an academic seminar was held, organized by the curators of the Department of Botany and Agroecology — Senior Lecturer K.T. Abidkulova — and the Department of Zoology and Histology — Associate Professor A.S. Akmullaeva — for first-year master's and doctoral students of the Biology, Geobotany, and Fish Industry and Industrial Fishery programs. The seminar, titled “How to Write an Article That Will Be Accepted: Methodology, Structure, and Peer Review in Scientific Journals,” was conducted within the framework of SDG 4 – Quality Education, aimed at strengthening the research competencies of master’s and doctoral students.

The seminar was led by Professor Aleksei Ivanovich Morgunov from the Department of Botany and Agroecology. He reviewed modern requirements for scientific publications, key stages of preparing a manuscript, and practical aspects of working with reviewers. The seminar provided a detailed overview of the entire cycle of preparing a scientific article — from initial data evaluation to submission and responding to reviewers’ comments.

Different types of scientific papers (review articles, experimental studies, short communications), their structure, and the requirements for topic relevance and literature sources were examined. Special attention was given to data organization, preparation of tables and figures, formulation of results, and the correct distinction between the Results and Discussion sections.

The speaker also addressed journal selection, identification of predatory journals, authorship rules, peer-review stages, and proper handling of editorial feedback. The seminar offered practical recommendations aimed at improving manuscript quality and increasing the likelihood of successful publication in international scientific journals.
