Interuniversity Olympiad in Macroeconomics Held at KazNU

On November 19, 2025, the Higher School of Economics and Business of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University hosted an interuniversity Olympiad in the discipline “Macroeconomics,” organized by the Department of Economics within the framework of SDG indicators 4 and 16.

Teams from Al-Farabi KazNU (HSEB), Abai KazNPU, and Caspian Public University participated in the competition, including “MacroMIND,” “MacroInvictus,” “MacroMasters,” “El Bolashagy,” and “Qarkyndy Qadam.”

The main purpose of the event was to enhance students’ macroeconomic analytical skills and identify talented youth in accordance with the priorities of “economic modernization” outlined in the President’s Address to the Nation – 2025.

The event was officially opened by the Dean of HSEB, Zh.Zh. Ermekova. Deputy Dean for Research, Innovation and International Cooperation, D.B. Kanagatova, and Head of the Department of Economics, G.R. Daulieva, also attended.

Participants demonstrated strong professional knowledge in macroeconomics and impressive analytical abilities.

Based on the results, the jury — faculty members of the Department of Economics: Zh.T. Beisenbayev, T.P. Tabeyev, D.R. Turarov, and I.U. Kuliev — determined the winners:

• 1st place — “Macro Invictus”,
• 2nd place — “MacroMasters” and “MacroMIND”,
• 3rd place — “Qarkyndy Qadam” and “El Bolashagy”.

Team leaders — PhD, Associate Professor Madina Dautovna Karimova; MSc, Senior Lecturer Makpal Torebekovna Syrlybayeva; and MSc, Senior Lecturer Alfiya Zalelovna Baktiyarova — were awarded letters of appreciation.

Students of the Higher School of Economics and Business of KazNU demonstrated outstanding performance and became the winners of the Olympiad!

This achievement reflects the students’ dedication and perseverance, as well as the professional mentorship of their instructors.
