On 24 November at 4 p.m., Saltanat Tumazhanova, curator of the Geodesy and Cartography programme, held an educational session with first-year students on the topic of ‘The role of religion in society.’

Religion occupies a special place in the formation of a society's spiritual culture. Throughout human history, religion has been one of the most important social institutions, determining people's worldview, norms of behaviour and value systems.

Religion nurtures inner spirituality, morality, humanity and compassion in people. Every religion prescribes moral qualities such as honesty, justice, tolerance and kindness. Therefore, religion contributes to the formation of moral norms in society.

Religion helps people to understand the meaning of life, overcome difficulties and find spiritual support. For many people, religion serves as a spiritual anchor, a measure of good and evil.

In addition, religion:

- strengthens the sense of responsibility;

- stimulates personal development;

- contributes to maintaining order and social peace.

Religion is the foundation of education and spiritual values in society. It calls on people to be kind, harmonious and humane. Respectful attitudes among representatives of different religions are essential in modern society. The spiritual literacy and cultural awareness of young people are key to the sustainable development of society. We are convinced that such educational activities make a significant contribution to ensuring that the younger generation does not stray from the true path and follows the right moral guidelines.
