An environmental youth forum "Farabi GreenCampus: a clean university" was held at al-Farabi Kazakh National University as part of the republican campaign "Taza Kazakhstan".

 

The event brought together active youth from five faculties of the university.
The aim of the competition is to combine artificial intelligence with environmental initiatives to promote "green" ideas, encourage youth participation in project activities and create a model of a sustainable ecological campus.

The first stage was held in the format of selection by faculty. The participants presented their startups, research papers, and practical environmental initiatives. The winners were determined based on the results of the video presentations.

The EcoMap Campus project, authored by 1styear doctoral student Ulan Mukhtarov, took the first place at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management.

Among the contestants of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, the first place was awarded to a 2nd-year student Ilyas Amirali with the project "Biodegradable polymer films based on CMC from recycled paper waste".

The project "Detours: ecological landscaping of the campus to support and preserve pollinators" was recognized as the best at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. The authors of the project are: 3rd-year doctoral student Islam Galymzhanov, 3rd-year student Symbat Zhanbasbayeva, 2nd-year master's student Ruslan Nurkhanov.

Among the projects of the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, the 4th-year student Nurdaulet Izmailov won the first place with the SmartEcoBox project.

The winner of the Faculty of Physics and Technology was 4th year student Aibolat Sembiev with the Eco-Campus project.

The startup competition "AI and a green Future" was attended by 12 teams combining ecology, digital technologies and AI. The participants raised topical issues of environmental monitoring of the campus, waste management, efficient use of resources and the use of artificial intelligence in environmental processes.

 

31 students took part in the video contest "AI and a green future", presenting author's videos on the topics of ecology, digital culture, artificial intelligence and the development of the university's green infrastructure. Daniel Prokudin and Abdumalik Amantai took the 1st place.

The awarding ceremony on behalf of Chairman of the Board Rector of KazNU Zhanseit Tuimebayev was conducted by Board Member Vice Rector for Social Development Bakytzhan Omarov.

More than 30 authors of student projects who won prizes at their faculties were awarded during the forum. The presented works demonstrated a high level of interdisciplinary approach, innovative thinking and a pronounced environmental orientation. All winners were awarded diplomas and cash prizes.
