Delegation from Riga Technical University Visits the Faculty of Geography and Environmental sciences
From November 24 to 26, the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism welcomed a delegation from Riga Technical University led by Professor Pavel Juras. During the visit, the parties discussed prospects for strengthening academic cooperation, preparing joint scientific publications, participating in international research projects, and expanding opportunities for academic mobility.
As part of the visit, Professor Irina Voronova delivered a leadership lecture for third-year bachelor’s students on the application of bibliometric methods in tourism research. Students gained valuable insights into analyzing scientific data, identifying research trends, and assessing the impact of academic publications in the field of tourism. Such lectures are highly relevant in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as high-quality research and strong scientific capacity contribute directly to informed decision-making in sustainable tourism development.

A meaningful meeting was also held with the Vice Dean for Research and International Cooperation, Assel Sabitkyzy, during which both sides shared experiences in organizing research activities and outlined future directions for collaboration.

The guests highly praised the university’s level of development, its modern infrastructure, the strong research activity of the department, and the institution’s high position in the QS rankings, noting that such achievements significantly enhance the university’s global reputation.
The visit became an important step toward strengthening international academic partnerships. Such engagements foster the expansion of scientific collaboration and create new opportunities for students and faculty, contributing to the university’s growing integration into the global educational and research community.
