Debate: “Is Tree Planting Enough to Protect Forests, or Is Legal Regulation Necessary?”
On November 28, 2025, Senior Lecturer Alibek Koksеgenov organized a debate forthe fourth-year students of “6B01704 – Foreign Language: Two Foreign Languages,” major dedicated to SDG 15 – Life on Land.
The purpose of the event was to develop students’ environmental awareness, encourage critical thinking regarding sustainable forest protection, and examine the balance between reforestation efforts and legislative measures.
During the debate, participants discussed the main drivers of deforestation, the impact of human activity on forest ecosystems, and the effectiveness of environmental regulations. Two teams presented evidence-based arguments supporting the importance of tree-planting initiatives and the strengthening of legal forest protection.
By the end of the event, students emphasized the need for an integrated approach to forest conservation and proposed several initiatives aimed at improving environmental policy.
