«Abai Day» at the Faculty of Oriental Studies
On November 28, 2025, within the framework of implementing the «Sustainable Development Goals» a musical and literary evening titled «Abai Recognized by the East» was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies, organized by the Department of Middle East and South Asia, in honor of the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet, philosopher, thinker, composer, translator and educator Abai Qunanbaiuly.
The honored guests of the event included the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazakhstan, Ms. Ahmadi Sona, the Deputy Consul General of the Republic of India in Kazakhstan, Mr. Dipesh Sharma, the Director of the Iranian Cultural Center, Mr. Aghazade Hossein, as well as the President of the Union of Indian Entrepreneurs, Mrs. Benusha Saibu, the President of Pakistan Business Forum Мr. Syed Sarfaraz Hussain
. They congratulated the audience on Abai Day and emphasized his remarkable contribution to the world’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
The Deputy Director of the Abai Research Institute, Doctor of Philology, Professor Leila Zhumataikyzy Musaly, delivered a speech highlighting the importance of Abai’s legacy in the education and upbringing of the younger generation, and wished young orientalists success in their professional development.
Students recited Abai’s poems and excerpts from «The Book of Words» in Hindi, Urdu, Persian, and Arabic and performed his widely known musical compositions accompanied by a student ensemble of traditional instruments.
The guests of the evening were deeply impressed by the students’ performances and highly praised their linguistic, literary, and musical preparation.
