The Academic Staff of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Al-Farabi KazNU Participated in the Horizon Europe Online Session. SDG 17

On December 4, 2025, the academic staff of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, represented by the Vice Dean for Scientific and Innovation Activities, took part in an international online information and networking session organised by the Global Service Facility of the European Commission. The event aimed to strengthen cooperation in research and innovation between the European Union and the Central Asian states.

Participants were presented with an overview of Horizon Europe, the European Union’s main framework programme for funding research and innovation. Special attention was given to the upcoming Horizon Europe Work Programmes for 2026–2027, including thematic areas related to Critical Raw Materials (CRM), as well as additional funding opportunities across various scientific fields.

A networking session with thematic breakout rooms provided a platform for experience-sharing, discussion of potential collaborative projects, and the development of future Horizon Europe consortia.

SDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals

– strengthening international scientific cooperation with European research institutions;
– contributing to the formation of international consortia in science and innovation;
– expanding the faculty’s partnership network for the implementation of joint projects.

The Faculty of Physics and Technology continues to develop cooperation with foreign scientific centres, broadening opportunities for the participation of academic staff and young researchers of KazNU in global programmes of the European Union.
