Multidisciplinary Research of the Tourism System

Within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 17 — “Partnerships for the Goals” As part of the international project “Scientists of the Future”, the Faculty of History hosted a lecture by Svetlana Viktorovna Dusenko, Doctor of Sociological Sciences and Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality at the State Central Lenin Order Institute of Physical Culture. The lecture was titled “Multidisciplinary Research of the Tourism System.”

During the presentation, the lecturer emphasized that the modern tourism industry is a complex socioeconomic system whose study requires the application of methods and approaches from several academic fields – sociology, cultural studies, economics, geography, psychology, and digital analytics. Special attention was given to issues of sustainable tourism development, the modeling of tourist flows, the analysis of travelers’ motivations, as well as the influence of digital communications and technologies on the formation of tourism practices.

Svetlana Dusenko noted that a multidisciplinary approach allows for a deeper understanding of the transformation processes within the tourism sector and makes it possible to develop more effective strategies for its advancement. The lecture sparked considerable interest among students and became a basis for further discussion of research prospects in the field of tourism.
