KazNU team won first place at the scientific competition

The team of the Faculty of Information Technology of al-Farabi Kazakh National University took the first place at the republican hackathon "AI-Sana Shakarim Solveathon: AI & Agriculture-2025".

The team consisted of young scientists, doctoral students, undergraduates and students who combined their knowledge and practical skills to solve urgent problems of the agro-industrial complex using artificial intelligence technologies.

"AI-Sana Shakarim Solveathon: AI & Agriculture-2025" is a large–scale three-day offline hackathon aimed at developing applied AI solutions for agriculture. The event brought together students, researchers and industry representatives from all over the country.

As part of the hackathon, participants worked on real-world cases from leading agricultural enterprises, including intelligent irrigation systems, soil monitoring, laser weed removal, and automation of agricultural processes.

The team of al-Farabi Kazakh National University successfully coped with the task, demonstrating a high level of competence in the field of Computer Vision, Data Science and AI modeling, a systematic approach to solving engineering problems, and readiness to implement the developed prototype in real production. Following the results of the final defense before the expert jury, the KazNU team was recognized as the winner of the hackathon and awarded the main prize of 1,000,000 tenge.

This success is a vivid example of the effective training of IT specialists at the university and the high scientific potential of young people.
