Second-year students of the “Meteorology” educational program at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University took part in an educational and wellness hike to Medeu.
The hike began near the Medeu ice rink and continued with the ascent of the famous Medeu staircase (842 steps). This climb helps build endurance, strengthens the cardiovascular system, and provides excellent physical exercise. Students enjoyed the fresh mountain air and experienced the benefits of active outdoor activity.

The route then continued along the “Zhumbak Zhol” (Mysterious Road) trail, offering stunning views of the Trans-Ili Alatau mountains and allowing students to fully immerse themselves in the beauty of nature. Along the way, they discussed various landform features and hydrometeorological processes, connecting classroom theory with real observations.
Located at an elevation of 1691 meters, Medeu is one of Kazakhstan’s most picturesque natural sites. Clean air, cool mountain breezes, and breathtaking scenery inspired and energized the students.

The trip helped strengthen health, develop teamwork, and broaden perspectives. Students spent a meaningful and enriching day, connecting with nature and gaining unforgettable impressions.
