“The Echo of Aitmatov: From Ala-Too to the Great Steppe”
Yesterday, on December 12, 2025, “The Echo of Aitmatov: From Ala-Too to the Great Steppe” international conference dedicated to the 97th anniversary of the birth of the world-renowned writer and great son of the Kyrgyz people, Chingiz Torekulovich Aitmatov, was held at the House of Friendship in Almaty.

The conference consisted of the following sections:Section I: an international essay competition on the topic: “Aitmatov. Personality. Era. Humanism”;Section II: “The Living Culture of Aitmatov” musical and poetic program ;Section III: “The Echo of Aitmatov: From Ala-Too to the Great Steppe” international scientific conference .

The paticipants were from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Vietnam, Russia (Tyumen), Uzbekistan, the United Kingdom (London), and the Czech Republic. Professors and students from universities of the participating countries, as well as lecturers from the Department of Foreign Languages of the Faculty of Philology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and admirers of Aitmatov’s legacy, contributed to promoting the writer’s heritage at the global level.
The Students of Al-Farabi KazNU university also actively participated in the international essay competition on the topic: “Aitmatov. Personality. Era. Humanism” and got prize winning places.In particular, Almira Baurzhankyzy, thr 4th-year student of the Faculty of Journalism, and Tagaybek Merey the 1st-year student of the Faculty of Information Technologies were awarded First-Degree Diplomas. Islam Zholdasbayev, the 1st-year student of the Faculty of Information Technologies received a Second-Degree Diploma. At this large-scale international conference, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Foreign Languages Gulipa Abdraiimovna Gaiipova served as a moderator.
