A Student of the Faculty of Physics and Technology Becomes a Winner of the Yessenov Foundation Research Internship Program – 2026. SDG 4 and SDG 17
Timur Yerlanov, a master’s student of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, enrolled in the Materials Science and Materials Engineering program, has become a winner of the Research Internships in Leading Laboratories Worldwide – 2026 program implemented by the Yessenov Foundation.
Timur Erlanov is a participant of a dual-degree educational program jointly implemented with Northwestern Polytechnical University (Xi’an, People’s Republic of China) and represents the Department of Solid State Physics and Technology of New Materials of the Faculty of Physics and Technology. His success in the competitive selection process confirms a high level of academic training, strong research competencies, and significant scientific potential.
The Yessenov Foundation program aims to support talented students and young researchers from Kazakhstan by providing opportunities to undertake research internships in leading international laboratories across priority areas of modern science and technology. Participation in the program involves working within an international research environment, mastering advanced methodologies, and developing professional skills.
This achievement contributes to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular:
- SDG 4 – Quality Education, by expanding academic mobility and access to international research infrastructure;
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, through strengthening international scientific cooperation and integrating Kazakhstani students into the global research community.
The Faculty of Physics and Technology of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University will continue its systematic efforts to support students and master’s candidates in participating in international grant programs, research internships, and projects aimed at training competitive specialists and researchers of the new generation.
