Round Table within SDG 4 – Quality Education
On December 11–12, 2025, the Department of Chemical Physics and Materials Science of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, in cooperation with the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized a round-table discussion dedicated to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education.
The main objective of the event was to address key challenges and future directions in higher education in Kazakhstan, enhance the quality of academic training, support young scientists, and promote the integration of education, science, and innovation. Special emphasis was placed on the role of such initiatives in improving the university’s quality of promoting education on SDGs.
The round table gathered more than 50 active young researchers and education experts from across Kazakhstan. Participants represented Astana IT University, Nazarbayev University, Narxoz University, D.A. Kunaev Institute of Mining, M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University, Korkyt Ata University, and other leading higher education institutions. International speakers also contributed, sharing global perspectives on education reform, digital learning, and interdisciplinary approaches.
Key discussion topics included modernization of educational programs, implementation of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in teaching, academic leadership development, and short-term professional training programs for managers and young scholars.
The event was moderated and organized by
Zhandos Turegulovich Tauanov, PhD, Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Chemical Physics and Materials Science at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and Member of the Presidium of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan.
As a result, a final resolution and a set of recommendations were adopted, aimed at strengthening quality education, fostering inter-university cooperation, and supporting the professional growth of young scientists in Kazakhstan.
