Turkic media: a new vector in the era of globalization

In honor of Independence Day and World Turkic Languages Day, a scientific and practical round table on the topic "Prospects for the development of Turkic-speaking media in the era of globalization" was held at the Faculty of Journalism of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

During the event, issues of integration of Turkic-speaking countries in the common information space and the future of modern media were discussed.

Opening the meeting, Dean of the Faculty of Journalism Kanat Auesbai elaborated on the historical and spiritual significance of Independence Day and World Turkic Languages Day. According to him, Independence has become a key value that has opened the way to the free development of the national language and information space. He called the preservation of the Turkic languages and their active use in the media sphere an important mechanism for the revival of the common spiritual heritage. "Independence has given us the opportunity to speak our native language freely and openly defend our national interests. And the World Turkic Languages Day is a significant holiday symbolizing the spiritual unity of fraternal peoples. In the context of globalization, the preservation and development of these values through the media is becoming a great responsibility for journalists",- said the Dean of the Faculty.

Within the framework of the round table, the head of the Department of Journalism and Communication at UNESCO, Oryntay Oshanova, made a presentation, who spoke in detail about the cooperation of the international organization with the Turkic-speaking states. According to her, UNESCO is implementing a number of projects aimed at the development of Turkic languages in the field of media, education and culture. "Strengthening the information potential of the Turkic world is an important task not only at the regional, but also at the global level",- she stressed.

In addition, the official representative of the TURKSOY International Organization at KazNU, senior lecturer Lyaziza Nurpeis, doctoral student Tulpar Zhanibek, graduate student of the Faculty of Journalism Gulnar Maharramova, who arrived from the Republic of Azerbaijan, and other participants took part in the discussion. In their speeches, they shared their views on the role of the TURKSOY organization in the information space of the Turkic-speaking countries and on the experience of the Turkish mass media in covering topics related to the Turkic world.

During the meeting, the participants discussed key areas of development of the Turkic-speaking media in the context of globalization, emphasizing the importance of forming a unified information space, as well as popularizing the values of Independence and spiritual unity of the Turkic peoples.
