Rector attended the meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Association of Universities
Chairman of the Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev took part in the meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Association of Universities, presenting the results of the university's work in the field of international cooperation.
The Eurasian Association of Universities (EAU) is currently a recognized and influential international organization that unites national universities of the CIS countries, leading regional universities and higher education institutions of the Eurasian region.
This year's meeting was hosted by Viktor Sadovnichy, Rector of Moscow State University. The heads of the universities discussed issues including "Eurasian Universities: keepers of historical memory and traditions", "Eurasian Universities and International Rankings: a comparative analysis", as well as "The second edition of the BRICS University Ranking "Three University Missions" and other topics.
The head of the University presented a report on "International cooperation as a key driver of KazNU's position in global rankings" at the meeting. He noted the importance of expanding the network of partner universities, which allows for the exchange of experience, the introduction of best practices and the implementation of joint research. KazNU uses international partnerships to achieve the Goals of Sustainable Development. Cooperation with universities, research centers, and international organizations allows for the creation of joint projects and educational programs. KazNU implements more than 700 international agreements with foreign educational institutions, research centers and other organizations, of which more than 27 were concluded in 2025.
The total Hirsch index in Scopus increased from 4,878 in 2023 to 5,365 in 2024. The share of publications with foreign scientists in 2024 was 49.1%. KazNU scientific journals have published 966 articles, 125 of which are in English–language journals. The number of publications in Scopus and Web of Science grew in collaboration with foreign scientists in 2025 to 931. The growth of indicators is achieved through active participation in international projects and partnerships.
KazNU implements more than 60 double-degree educational programs in cooperation with leading universities in Europe, Asia, Russia and the CIS.

The participation of the head of KazNU in the meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Association of Universities provides an opportunity not only to share the accumulated experience, but also to establish strong academic and research ties with colleagues from other universities, initiate joint projects, exchange students and teachers, as well as attract international resources and best practices for the development of the university.
