Independence – My Foundation!
December 16 is the Independence Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This date is one of the most significant milestones in the modern history of the nation, symbolizing the fulfillment of the people’s centuries-old aspiration, the revival of national statehood, and the consolidation of sovereignty. On this day in 1991, Kazakhstan officially declared its independence, opening a new chapter in the development of the state. This historic act marked the culmination of long-standing struggles for freedom and continuity of national liberation movements.
Independence represents the core symbol of our sovereignty, national unity, and spiritual identity. It embodies the courage and dedication of our ancestors and stands as a sacred legacy entrusted to the present generation with profound responsibility.
To commemorate this important occasion, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, Direction “4. Quality Education,” on 12.12.2025 1-year students of the “6D02205 – Scientific History” educational program at the Faculty of History of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, under the guidance of their curator Aknur Orazgaliqyzy Koshymova, prepared an educational video entitled “Independence – My Foundation”. The initiative aimed to foster historical awareness among students, deepen their understanding of the values of independence, and strengthen respect for national history.
In the video, students highlighted historical insights and commemorative reflections on the heroes of the December events, emphasizing their bravery and unwavering commitment to the nation. They also shares personal thoughts on the significance of independence and the responsibility borne by today’s generation in preserving and advancing the country’s sovereign legacy.
This activity contributed to enhancing students’ interest in national history, nurturing patriotic consciousness, and developing a profound appreciation of independence as a core national value. Such initiatives play an important role in shaping civic responsibility and reinforcing continuity in the nation’s historical development.
At the end of the event, warm wishes were extended to all faculty members and students, along with hopes for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the country.
