Faculty members of the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Museology, Faculty of History, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, achieved an important milestone in developing international academic cooperation.

From 15 to 23 November 2025, the department’s scholars undertook an academic visit to France.

The academic visit and conference participation were conducted within the framework of the research project “Tarbagatai: Historical and Cultural Processes in the Borderland of Central Asia”.

The visit was organized upon an official invitation from CERCEC – Centre d’Études Russes, Caucasiennes, Est-européennes et Centrasiatiques (Paris). During meetings in Paris, discussions focused on expanding scientific collaboration, joint research initiatives, and future academic exchange.

As a subsequent stage of the visit, on 19–20 November 2025, the scholars participated in an international scientific conference held in Lille. The conference addressed current and pressing issues related to Central Asian geopolitics and migration, bringing together leading scholars and experts at the global level for in-depth academic exchange.

As a key outcome of these productive meetings, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at developing scientific cooperation between Kazakhstan and France was officially signed.

This agreement opens new opportunities for joint research projects, academic mobility, and long-term international collaboration.
