“Landscape Ecology of Mountain Regions: Studying the Medeu Gorge as a Model Site” was conducted as part of the “Landscape Ecology” course by Associate Professor T.A. Bazarbayeva for 3rd-year Ecology students.
Students explored Kazakhstan’s landscape types, their origins, and changes using Medeu Gorge as an example. Vertical zonation of mountain areas and landscape-ecological research methods aimed at ecosystem preservation were discussed.
During the lecture, students observed natural components, analyzed anthropogenic impacts, and discussed sustainable nature management. Such field lectures help future ecologists develop practical skills and deepen their theoretical knowledge.
