Scientific Seminar on “International Land Protection and Its Legal Foundations”

On December 8, 2025, at the Faculty of Law of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, in the 203 study group of the “Law” program, Ainash Akimsalovna Yessekeeva, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Customs, Financial, and Environmental Law, conducted a scientific seminar on “International Land Protection and Its Legal Foundations.”

The seminar was organized within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 13 — “Climate Action.” The purpose of the session was to introduce students to the main principles of international land protection, interstate cooperation in combating climate change, and legal mechanisms for conserving land resources.

During the seminar, students discussed the relevance of international land protection policies and examined UN documents and international agreements concerning land conservation, desertification prevention, and environmental security. National legal norms on land protection under the Land Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and their connection with international standards were also reviewed.

Students analyzed global issues of land overuse, degradation, and desertification and exchanged views on international legal and ecological mechanisms to address these problems. The seminar enhanced students’ environmental-legal awareness and provided a deep understanding of the importance of international land policy. Participants gained a clear understanding of the role of international cooperation in combating climate change and protecting land resources.
