On November 5, 2025, students of the 1st year of Religious Studies at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University initiated by S. M. Kaupenbayeva, an adviser, and N. Mukan, a teacher of the discipline. They showed an active civic position and, as part of their support for the principles of the 1st Sustainable Development Goal, "poverty eradication," they took part in a charity event and helped a family raising socially vulnerable children with disabilities.
The purpose of the event is to provide real support to socially vulnerable and low-income families within the framework of the 1st Sustainable Development Goal "poverty eradication", to help meet their basic needs, to create a culture of social responsibility and charity among students, as well as to strengthen the active citizenship of young people.
This initiative is aimed at mitigating the effects of poverty and improving their quality of life by providing real financial support to low-income families in difficult situations. The students provided targeted and effective assistance in purchasing food and household necessities, taking into account the daily household needs of the family.
The family members were sincerely grateful for the sympathy shown, and the mother and son greeted the students with special warmth. The students' free communication and entertainment with the child determined not only financial, but also moral and psychological support. This care helped the family to feel socially supported.
This event has contributed to ensuring the basic needs of socially vulnerable segments of the population, supporting families living at risk of poverty, and strengthening the principle of social justice. In addition, such initiatives reflect the importance of social cooperation for poverty eradication, shaping student values such as kindness, social responsibility, and civic engagement.
