The Path to Sustainable Development: The Importance of Partnerships
On December 29, 2025, an online scientific and practical event titled “The Importance of Partnerships for Achieving Sustainable Development” was held. The event was organized within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 17 — “Strengthen partnerships for sustainable development.”
The main organizer of the event was Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. International and local universities, private companies, and research organizations also participated as partners. This broad partnership clearly demonstrated the importance of joint efforts among different sectors in achieving sustainable development.
The primary goal of the event was to highlight the role of partnerships between universities, government bodies, and private organizations, to present KazNU’s international and local partnership experience, and to demonstrate their social, economic, and environmental benefits through concrete examples. In addition, participants were given the opportunity to share their experiences and provide practical recommendations.
During the event, scientific presentations and in-depth discussions focusing on the significance of partnerships were conducted. KazNU’s international and domestic partnership projects were presented, and their positive impact on society was comprehensively analyzed. Special attention was given to international projects supported by the university, urban environmental initiatives, and innovative educational partnerships.
Throughout the discussions, participants exchanged views on social, economic, and environmental issues and shared best practices. This interactive dialogue contributed to the generation of new ideas and laid the foundation for future collaborative projects.
Students, faculty members, and external experts took part in the event. The high level of engagement and interest once again confirmed the decisive role of partnerships in achieving sustainable development.
As a result, the importance of partnerships for society was clearly demonstrated, and the university’s contribution to addressing social, economic, and environmental challenges through international and local cooperation was highlighted. Most importantly, participants expressed strong motivation to develop new projects and partnerships and demonstrated their readiness for future collaboration.
This event once again proved that partnerships within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal No. 17 are not merely a theoretical concept, but an effective tool for achieving tangible results.
