Construction of five dormitories has begun in KazNU
A solemn capsule laying ceremony dedicated to the construction of new dormitories for students with 5 000 beds was held on the campus of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Five new nine-storey dormitories will be built as part of the II KazNU Campus Development Plan.
Zhongtaihua, the Chinese Baoji Construction Labor Services company, was involved as an investor in the construction of student dormitories.

The event was attended by the university's management, representatives of the construction company, famous graduates of the university, faculty and students.

Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Chairman of the Board and Rector of Al–Farabi Kazakh National University, spoke at the ceremony, noting the strategic importance of this initiative in the history of the university. "In 2022, with the support of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the second stage of construction of the KazNU University campus began. The new dormitories will have a positive impact on education, research and social adaptation of young people",- said the rector.
Zhang Hongqian, Director of Zhongtaihua Construction and Labor Services in Baoji City, also delivered a welcoming speech at the meeting. Zhang Hongqian noted that the project is being implemented within the framework of an international partnership and special attention is paid to the quality of construction.

During the event, a message addressed to future generations was signed and a capsule was solemnly laid.

"We are on the threshold of a new era of development and modernization of the Treasury. This is a historic moment that opens up new opportunities for obtaining high-quality education, developing scientific activities and improving the quality of life of students. All the work carried out as part of the construction of student dormitories is aimed at creating decent, modern and comfortable conditions for young students and university faculty. We firmly believe that the students living in these dormitories and studying at the university will make a significant contribution to the development and prosperity of our country",- the letter says.

The project aims to create a supportive and safe environment for students. The complex has a total area of 66,000 square meters and can accommodate more than 5,000 people. The volume of investments will amount to about 33.8 billion tenge.
Construction work will begin in January 2026 and will be completed within a year and a half. The dormitories will be equipped in accordance with international standards, fully equipped with a security system and household infrastructure.

This project will increase the availability of housing for students, especially for students from other regions and from abroad.
