KazNU online course released on Coursera platform

A new author's online course from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, "Creating an online course: from Theory to Practice", has been launched on the Coursera international educational platform.

The authors of the course are Asel Musinova, Head of the Department for Quality Assurance of the Educational Process, Candidate of Philology, Ainur Arystanova, Chief Specialist of the Office of Academic and Digital Innovations, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, and Peter Nesterenkov, Master of Information Technology.

The course program is aimed at transforming the academic experience of teachers into a sought-after digital educational product and is aimed at teaching staff of educational organizations of all levels, as well as students of pedagogical specialties.

The course is based on the international standard of pedagogical design, the ADDIE model, as well as the long–term practical experience of specialists from the Educational Process Quality Assurance Department in developing and implementing massive online courses on the Open KazNU educational platform.

As noted by Assel Musinova, Head of the Department for Quality Assurance of the Educational Process, PhD, "The course helps to move from conventional video lectures to an interactive learning format. Participants will go through all the stages of creating an online course: from defining the target audience and learning objectives to developing a scenario and evaluating the results. They will learn how to formulate learning outcomes, choose forms of control, and develop learning materials". It also examines the specifics of working on online platforms, interacting with students and current global trends in the field of massive open online courses (MOOCs), which allows us to design educational programs aimed at an international audience. Participants also learn about the history of distance education.

The practical result of the training will be the author's project a detailed pedagogical scenario of his own online course. Successful completion of the program is confirmed by a certificate certifying the acquisition of new professional competencies.
