Official Meeting at the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA): International Cooperation in the Study of Al-Farabi's Heritage is Expanding
Within the framework of a working visit to Istanbul, a Kazakhstani scientific delegation was received at a high level by the Director General of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA), Professor Mahmud Erol Kılıç. The meeting was held in the format of a meaningful exchange of views aimed at strengthening mutual scientific cooperation and studying the heritage of Al-Farabi at the international level.
The official meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Ashirbek Muminov, Advisor to the IRCICA Director General on International Relations, and Prof. Dr. Cengiz Tomar.
Representing the Kazakhstani side were Tursun Khafizuly Gabitov, Professor of the Department of Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and Pirimbek Mukhanbetuly Suleimenov, Associate Professor of the Department of Philosophy and Director of the "Al-Farabi" Research Center at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
During the meeting, the results of previously implemented joint scientific projects were analyzed, and issues regarding the further development of scientific ties established during past projects were considered. In particular, the discussion focused on the study of Al-Farabi's philosophical, religious, and political heritage based on manuscript data, the translation of treatises not yet fully introduced into scientific circulation, and their publication with scientific commentaries.
Furthermore, the parties discussed opportunities for conducting joint research on manuscripts preserved in the center's archives, preparing materials for international scientific publications, and organizing congresses and scientific conferences dedicated to Al-Farabi's heritage. It was noted that these initiatives are fully consistent with the goals of the ongoing fundamental scientific project titled "The Modern Paradigm of Studying the Religious and Political Views of Abu Nasr al-Farabi (based on the manuscripts of the treatises 'Kitab al-Milla' and 'Al-Ilm al-Ilahi')."
This meeting was a significant step toward raising cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkiye in the field of humanities to a new qualitative level and strengthening the position of Al-Farabi studies in the international scientific space.
