Online courses shape a new approach to education

6 january, 2026

In recent years, Mass Open Online Courses (MOOK) have become an integral part of the modern educational environment. They allow trainees to receive quality education, regardless of location or level of training, and open the way for universities to share their scientific and methodological experience with a wide audience. The combination of flexible format, lectures, interactive tasks and digital technologies makes Mocs an effective tool aimed at improving the quality of education and expanding learning opportunities. Today, Online Courses form a new approach to education and make the educational process more accessible and convenient.

KazNU conducted an expert examination in the nominations "The most popular online course", "The online course with the largest number of external listeners" and "the most in-demand online course", and the winners were determined.

The ceremony of awarding certificates was held with the participation of the vice-rector for academic affairs of KazNU Alina Galeyeva. In his speech, the vice-rector noted that the development of high-quality online courses requires considerable work, professionalism and a deep understanding of the educational needs of students. He noted that the work of the author's groups makes a significant contribution to the development of the digital educational environment and expanding the access of students to modern educational resources. He thanked the teachers for their contribution to the development of online education and wished them success in their further work.

The authors of the MOOK "Chemistry of polymers for medical and biological purposes"-Perizat Urkimbayeva, Raikhan Rakhmetullayeva, Asel Toktabayeva and Zarina Kenesova – became the winners in the nomination" the most popular online course".

The online course "chemistry of polymers for medical and biological purposes" by perizat Urkimbayeva (head of the course) is designed to provide students with deep and systematized knowledge about polymers for medical and biological purposes. The course teaches the properties of polymers, synthesis methods and the possibilities of their application in the field of medicine, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

Polymers for medico-biological purposes are high molecular weight materials designed to interact with a living organism. They are used in medical fields such as biocompatible implants, prostheses, drug systems with controlled release of active substances, as well as tissue engineering. According to rakhmetullaeva rakhmetullaeva, the creation of an online course in this discipline will allow students to study the material at a comfortable pace, master complex theoretical concepts and practical skills, and have remote access to methodological materials.

Assel Toktabayeva: "the course will help students develop skills in working with modern polymer materials, understanding their biocompatibility and application in medical and biological technologies, as well as prepare for research and project work in the field of medical chemistry", – Zarina Kenesova: "the course was taught not only by students of the Faculty of chemistry and Chemical Technology of kaznu, but also by students of other universities of Kazakhstan and students of the chemical Faculty of Termez State University of Uzbekistan. This will contribute to the wide recognition of the university abroad",- he shared his thoughts.

In this way, the course is not limited to expanding academic knowledge, but increases the competitiveness of future professionals in the labor market and in the scientific field.
