Solar panels are installed on the roofs of KazNU academic buildings

Solar panels are installed on the roofs of a number of academic buildings of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

In particular, the buildings of the Higher School of Economics and Business, Journalism, Law, History, Geography, Biology, Philology and medical faculties were equipped with solar panels.

This project will save energy and significantly reduce electricity costs.

The power plant was built under an agreement with the Chinese side on an area of 20 thousand m2. After the launch of the project, part of the educational institution's electricity needs will be provided by alternative sources. This will allow students and staff to use sustainable, environmentally friendly energy, as well as strengthen the university's image as an innovative university.

In the future, according to the plan, all faculties and dormitories on the KazNU campus will be provided with solar panels. In addition, the roofs of academic buildings, administrative buildings of the campus, dormitories and research centers are being completely renovated. The old roofing has been dismantled, and the surfaces have been prepared for work. Then a waterproofing layer was laid and a drainage system was installed. These measures are aimed at ensuring the long-term operation of facilities.
