KazNU hosts CITech International Conference
The CITech international scientific conference dedicated to the memory of Academician Yuri Ivanovich Shokin has begun at the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The event was moderated by the President of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov.
In his speech, he noted that 2026 has been declared the "Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence" in Kazakhstan, which makes the topic of the conference particularly relevant.
It should be noted that the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, founded in 1934, has become a forge of personnel and a leader in such fields as mathematics, mechanics, mathematical modeling and computational sciences. Many graduates of the faculty have become outstanding scientists and engineers, whose achievements are recognized worldwide.
The plenary sessions of the conference featured presentations by leading scientists from Kazakhstan, Russia, the USA and Uzbekistan. Petr Vabishchevich, Professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia), made a presentation on "Computational Identification of the Source Domain in an Inverse Problem of Potential Theory". Professor at the University of Houston (USA) Maxim Olshanskii presented the report "Analysis of a finite element method for PDEs in evolving domains with topological changes". Other conference participants also presented reports on computational mathematics, numerical methods, artificial intelligence, neural networks, mathematical modeling, and high-performance computing.
A separate section of the conference was dedicated to the scientific legacy of Academician Yuri Shokin, who was one of the founders of modern computing technologies in Russia and the CIS. The scientist has made a significant contribution to the development of difference schemes, interval analysis, numerical modeling and information computing technologies, the author of more than 300 scientific papers and 24 monographs.
The conference will last two days. It will include plenary and breakout sessions, during which topical issues of numerical modeling, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and digital technologies will be discussed.
The CITech International Scientific Conference has been held regularly since 2002 and is aimed at the development and implementation of modern computing technologies.
