The deputy of the Mazhilis got acquainted with the scientific potential of KazNU

Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan of the VIII convocation Sergey Ponomarev paid a working visit to the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

The main purpose of his visit was to get acquainted with the activities of the University's Faculty of Physics and Technology, inspect modern research laboratories and discuss strategic directions for the development of the branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.

During the meeting he highly appreciated the level of technological equipment of the country's leading university and its contribution to training personnel for knowledge-intensive sectors of the economy.

The deputy got acquainted with the teaching staff and the conditions of student education at the branch, which trains international specialists for the nuclear industry and nuclear medicine in Kazakhstan.

The key event of the visit was a working meeting dedicated to discussing strategic issues of the branch's activities. During the meeting, Professor Askar Davletov made a presentation on "Foreign branches and the higher education system in Kazakhstan". In his report, he described in detail the mechanisms for integrating leading foreign educational standards into the national system of higher education. Askar Davletov stressed that the work of the branch of the National Research Nuclear University MEPhI at KazNU is an important tool for increasing the competitiveness of domestic education.

During the discussion, the meeting participants touched upon issues of further expanding cooperation, strengthening the material and technical base and creating conditions for the implementation of joint innovative projects. Sergey Ponomarev noted that the support of such educational initiatives is under special control of the legislature, since the development of technical science and high-quality training of engineering personnel are the foundation of the technological sovereignty of the republic.

Following the meeting, the parties outlined ways to improve legislative support for university science and mechanisms for interaction between the academic environment and the real sector of production.
