The winter school of ethnologists has started
The Winter School of Ethnologists on the topic ‘Current Issues in Ethnology (Socio-Cultural Anthropology): History and Modernity’ has begun its work at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
More than 130 specialists from various regions of Kazakhstan take part in the winter school program. Dean of the Faculty of History, Professor Dosbol Baigunakov and Head of the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Museology, PhD Rinat Zhumatayev, welcomed the school and wished the participants successful and fruitful work.
The general coordination and moderation of the event is carried out by the teachers of the department – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Meruert Egizbayeva; PhD, senior lecturer Nazira Abdinasyr; Deputy head of the Department for educational, methodical and educational work, senior lecturer Aigerim Yesenamanova; as well as senior lecturer, PhD Ainur Ermekbayeva.
Within the framework of the school, participants were given the opportunity to listen to lectures by scientists from the USA, Brazil, Hungary, England, Germany, Poland, Indonesia and Central Asian countries. This contributes to familiarization with international scientific experience, the formation of new scientific views, as well as the expansion of professional horizons in the development of a relevant field – socio-cultural anthropology.
On the opening day of the school, lectures were given: KazNU Professor Amanzhol Kalysh presented a report on the ethnic aspects of family and marriage in Kazakh society; Professor Gabor Bitso (University of Debrecen, Hungary) reviewed modern theoretical trends in socio-cultural anthropology; Professor Ronald Wiley (USA) introduced the audience to an ethnographic study of traditional conflict resolution practices in Kazakhs.
