The academician uses the KazNU supercomputer to solve complex problems

13 january, 2026

Vice-President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a well-known Kazakhstani scientist and public figure, academician Askar Zhumadildayev uses the power of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University supercomputer to solve complex mathematical problems.

According to the scientist, previously particularly complex algebraic problems that had to be calculated manually or using a personal computer for several weeks, and sometimes months, KazNU's high-performance supercomputer was able to solve in a short time. "If we turn to history, during the period of my work at the Mittag-Leffler Institute, when we ran computing programs on a computer, the results were received only the next day. Solving complex tasks has always required powerful computing resources. Now I have my own powerful computer with eight processors, with which I solved my algebraic problems. However, the KazNU supercomputer coped with tasks that used to take weeks to complete in just three hours. This is truly a colossal power", - said academician Askar Zhumadildaev.

Specialists from the KazNU Center for Supercomputing Technologies have allocated specialized servers for computing to the scientist and provide comprehensive support in the implementation of his scientific projects. Currently, Askar Serkulovich continues to work on solving other complex tasks using this high-tech equipment.

It should be noted that the KazNU supercomputer is the first high-performance computing complex launched in the academic field, and a system of this level has no analogues in the Central Asian region. The performance of the KazNU supercomputer is 2000 teraflops. It is one of the 600 best supercomputers in the world. Its architecture is based on Intel and NVIDIA processors, and the computing power exceeds the capabilities of the most modern personal computer by about 10 000 times. This system allows you to perform complex mathematical models and multidimensional calculations with high accuracy, predict the weather, and effectively implement scientific and applied projects in the field of artificial intelligence and deep data analysis.
