The trade union activist got acquainted with the possibilities of the Farabi HUB

14 january, 2026

During the winter holidays, activists of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University trade Union visited the Farabi HUB innovation center.

The introduction to the hub's capabilities began with a presentation by a specialist from the Center for Commercialization and Creative Industry. The participants were shown a multifunctional space, including coworking spaces, conference rooms and high-tech laboratories, where research is conducted in various fields from biotechnology to artificial intelligence.

After visiting the laboratories, the professional consultants talked about the work of their faculties. R.Ryskalieva introduced colleagues to the developments of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, presenting a line of products preparing to enter the market. J.Kumganbayev presented the unique Kazakh-French center "ZooStan". Special attention was paid to the ZooMS laboratory, where bone fragments are identified using proteomic analysis. This method is a breakthrough for modern archaeology, allowing us to identify animal species by the smallest particles. Zh.Shortanbayeva spoke about the activities of the Laboratory of Modern Applied Physics and High Technologies, where the priority is the creation and study of nanostructured materials.

The exposition of the Scientific Research Center of Medicinal Plants aroused great interest. Zh.Bysygarayev demonstrated antibacterial drugs and vaccine samples developed in biology and biotechnology laboratories. At the International Institute of Digital Technologies, activists saw the work of a prototyping center and a laboratory for robotics and artificial intelligence, where 3D printing technologies are actively used.

The KazNU Supercomputer Center became a special point of the program. This is a hybrid cluster of 400 CPU servers and 30 GPU servers. Today, the supercomputer's power is used to model complex tasks, process Big Data, and develop ambitious projects such as language models (LLM) for the Kazakh language and AI agents. The center's resources are already in demand by government agencies and the Almaty Akimat for the implementation of joint digital projects.

Today, the Farabi HUB is not just a research platform, but a solid foundation for the startup industry. The created infrastructure allows you to shorten the path from a scientific hypothesis to the implementation of development in everyday life.
